So I was pheasant hunting with the Houle family and a bunch of friends in SW North Dakota. We had a pretty big group of guys and had a pheasant pinned into a corner, Hunter was walking with me and we had him up front to get honors at first shot since he was probably 12 or 13 yrs old. The bird jumped up and Steve shoots it dead in about 1 second!! We all were giving him crap about not letting Hunter get first shot and Steve said “I waited as long as I could, he needs to be faster!”🤣. Hunter told me after that he was gonna be more ready on the next one and beat his dad! Winning was and probably always will be a dominant Houle family trait, I know Hunter loved to compete and although the family set the bar pretty high, he was proud of that legacy and enjoyed his own pursuit toward greatness!
Hunter and Dan were following each other on a parade lap four years ago and a ice chunk from Dans sled broke a piece of Hunter’s windshield. Dan and Hunter talked about it right after and Hunter laughed saying ah no problem, I’ll slap a new windshield on. Such a nice kid! Always so kind.
Sure miss seeing Hunter and his smile at the races❤️. Forever remembered by so many!!!
